[Note: It is suspected that Stephen is a son of Paul and Jerusha (Aikens) Crowell. The baptism in 1783 occurred the same day as Paul, also labelled "s. Joshua [?]", but probably the son of Paul based on his name and the recent marriage of Paul and Jerusha in 1778. Further, Joshua and Mary have the birth of son Ebenezer Field Crowell b. 20 Jan 1783, and they are also called parents of Ebenezer Field Crowell when he d. 1797. Field was Mary's maiden name, so this record is believed to be correct, and would rule out Joshua as Stephen's parent.]
