    ROOT, Stella May (Caylor) daughter of E. H. and Ida May (Foster) Caylor, was born near Salem, Illinois, on Dec. 21, 1901; and peacefully answered the Master's call Dec. 1, 1951 at the age of 49 years, 11 months and 10 days, at the Hospital in Modesto, California.

    On Feb. 5th, 1920 she was united in marriage to Thomas C. Root near Elk City, Okla. To this union were born 6 daughters and 2 sons; Mrs. Effie Holsinger, Mrs. Edna Wolf, Ida May Root, Mrs. Opal Brown, David H. Root, and Stella Louise Root.

    Also surviving are five stepchildren and their families. Mrs. Aurelia Wertz, Christian T. Root, Mrs. Pearl Wertz, Christian T. Root, Pearl Wertz, Joseph O. Root, and Don G. Root, all who loved her as a mother.

    She also leaves to mourn her departure her father, Eli H. Caylor; three sisters: Mrs. Flossie Felder, Mrs. Florence Zepelouski, and Mrs. Ethel Mjoborg; one brother, Hershel Caylor; six grandchildren; and many other relatives and host of friends.

    Her mother preceded her in death on March 15, 1951. Also a son aged 15 months April 23, 1943, and an infant daughter in 1929.

    Early in life she was baptized into the Church of the Brethren, and on March 11, 1951, she was baptized into the German Baptist Brethren Church. When she became ill she was anointed, but it was the Lord's will to call her away from this scene of action.

    Mother's greatest virtues were her patience and her faithfulness to duty.

    Funeral services were held December 4, 1951, at the Old German Baptist Church near Modesto California, with Elders, Joseph Oyler and Daniel Stamy officiating.

    Burial at the Wood Colony Cemetery.
