  5. Waterloo, in Ontario, Canada. Ontario, Canada Marriages, 1801-1928. (Toronto, Ontario, Canada: Archives of Ontario).

groom: Abraham Ringler, age 28, born in Stratford, Ontario, living in Elma Township, son of John Ringler and Elizabeth Wildfang
bride: Sophia Ward, age 15, born in Mornington Township, living in Mornington Township, daughter of John Ward and Elizabeth Hawk
married: 27 Oct 1863 in Waterloo

Abraham's birth place appears to be an error, as all the evidence points to the family having lived in Waterloo County for years.
Sophia's birth place also appears to be an error, as census records indicate she was born in Germany.

    2:187.

'RINGLER, ADAM [son of John and Elizabeth (Wildfong) Ringler], is married to Sophia Wart. They reside in Indiana where he is farming.'

  7. 1870 and 1880 census records imply that if she was born in Dec, it was Dec 1847 or Dec 1848, and her marriage record implies that if she was born in Dec, it was Dec 1847 (age 15 in Oct 1863). According to the 1900 census, her last child was born Apr 1895, when she would have been 47 if she was born Dec 1847. However, it is possible that the last child was actually a grandchild (either incorrectly reported in the census, or the illegitimate child of a daughter, passed off as her own child). Her second last child was born Jun 1887, when she would have been 39 if she was born Dec 1847. Her gravestone appears to say Dec 1849 (barely legible), but even the family may have been misled as to her actual birth year.

Census records all agree that she was born in Germany, while her marriage record says she was born in Ontario. She does not appear to be in the 1851 or 1861 Canadian censuses, so it is likely her marriage record that is incorrect.
