Nancy Jeanne Conine letter June 1, 2000 said that Sophia and T. Roman Rivera adopted Gloria Conine and Richard James Henry Riveria and that Sophia also adopted her brother John's daughter Teresa Irene Pahoudis. Notice that I have not documented this family data and suspect that there are some accidental merges of children by different fathers married to Sophia. Frankly, the relationships and dates provided by different family members are not logical (or I misunderstood, etc.). At least, use great caution with this data.
March 2002 email from Laurie Black ([email protected] or [email protected]), wife of Alexander Elijah Black (son of James Black and Sophia Louis Pahoundis) offering to communicate on family data.

- I am hoping to clarify questions concerning Sophia, often referred to by her middle name Louise. Sophia was married to Tomas Rivera(1st marriage)resulting in 2 children Gloria Louise Rivera, 1945 and Richard Tomas Henry Rivera, 1946. Her 2nd relationship with Jesus Esquivel Amaya(no proof of marriage)produced a son Alexander Elijah Amaya, Dec 1955, Sophia later married James Allen Black, which then a 4th child Allen James Black was born Sept 1964. Soon after James Allen black adopted Sophia's daughter Gloria and son Alexander and the 2 children's last names were changed to Black. Thus father Tomas Rivera with daughter Gloria Louise Rivera Black and father Jesus Esquivel Amaya with son, Alexander Elijah Amaya Black.
Several years later Sophia adopted her brother John Pahoundis daughter, Theresa Irene Pahoundis and changed her name to Teresa Irene Black.
I hope this adds clarity to Sophia Louise Pahoundis History.
Laurie Black wife of Alexander Black(3rd child)
- Gloria Louise Natalie Rivera(Black)(MARRIED NAME: Pasquali) was my mother. She and Richard Tomas Henry Rivera were the full and natural children of Sophia Louise Pahoundas and Tomas Armando Rivera. Sophia divorced Tomas when the two children were still very young. My records show that Gloria was born in 1946 Richard was born 1947
As far as I was told by mother (Gloria) and Grandmother (Sophia) Sophia was married to Jesus Esquival Amaya when Alexander was born. That marriage ended quickly and I shall just leave the information at that.
All else of Laurie Black's information is accurate. Richard chose not to be adopted by James Allen Black, hence, he continued with his last name of Rivera til death in 2000.
Teresa was Gloria's cousin, adopted by Sophia. Teresa's sister Elizabeth and one of her youngest brothers (known to me as "Jimmy") were also adopted. I met them approximately the year of 1985 and they were in Grandmother's adoptive care already.
