1. Source 99 has Samuel married first to Caroline (unk) and then Sarah (unk). In another place, Caroline and Sarah are listed as wives of Simon, with 1 child, Harriet b. 1840, as offspring of marriage of Simon and Caroline. Chapman lists "S.P. Shewe" as having wives named Caroline Atkinson and Sarah Baughman, p. 850.

2. At time of writing (abt 1877), Chapman says 4 children, 1 living. 3. Home was 2 families away from John Blackledge (1850) 4. Source 184 gives Simon's age in 1878 as "55" 5. Res. New Canton in 1878. At time of his marriage to Caroline (1840), he resided in Union Twp., Washington Co, Ohio. 6. Age in 1860 is given as 48; this implies birth year around 1812.
