    "57. Ens. Simeon5 Coe (John4 (20), Capt. John33, Robert2, Robert1), born in that part of Haddam, later set off to Durham, Conn., Mar. 22, 1720-21, settled in the southerly part of Durham as a farmer. He was commissioned ensign in the militia in October 1766 (Colonial Records of Conn., 1762-1767, p. 504); and on Dec. 8, 1777, took the oath of fidelity at Durham. His death was caused by being struck by a falling stone while in a well, Sept. 23, 1782; in his sixty-second year according to his gravestone in Durham. He left a will which was offered for probate in 1782."
