[Nov'r: 1742] 28. Baptized in ye meeting House at Woonksechaukset [also called Chocksett, now Sterling] the first Sabbath of ye meeting in it, as follows: Silas, Son of Benjamin Houghton
Note: neither Houghton Genealogy (published 1912), nor the article on the Descendants of John Houghton in NEHGR, Vol. 79 (1925), p. 399-400, put a son Silas in either the family of Benjamin Sr. (m. Zerviah Moore) or Benjamin Jr. (m. Ruth Wheelock), as they were called in the records. Both birth and baptism records indicate him as a son of Benjamin, and the birth record explicitly places him in this family. This appears to be an oversight.
