"Silas August Hall was born on First Creek, Gasconade County, Mo., April 5, 1854. His parents moved to Berger in 1857. He attended a little log school south of the present town of Berger where he received ten months of schooling. Silas A. Hall married Kate Josephine Schmidt, oldest sister of Otto Schmidt. They had two children, Harry and Maud Hall."
