A Worthy Pioneer of 1846
Mother of Judge Burnett
Mrs Sidney Younger Burnett died this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Snelling, in this city, of age,the end of a faith ful service of a Christian Woman.
She was born in Louisville, Ky., Feb 25, 1817, was married to Geo. W. Burnett, with whom she lived until his death about thirty years ago. They crossed the plains with an ox team in 1846 and settled in Yamhill county. Seven children were born, of whom three survive, Judge G.H. Burnett, Salem, Mrs. Snelling of this city, and Mrs. Martin of Rochester, N.Y. she was a member of the Baptist church, a noble woman beloved by her family and all knowing her.
The remains will be taken to McMinnville for burial.
