"No record of his marriage has been discovered, but 'Mary Upton, of Reading, Mass., md. Shubael Stearns, of Lynn', whether this Shubael or descendant is unknown."
    [Note: the intention to Mary Upton is dated 1705, so she appears to be a second wife, possibly not the mother of any of his children. This sources quotes a sentence about the marriage without any context, so there is no idea where the statement comes from, how authoritative it is, or as the author indicates, if it even applies to this Shubael.]
