News Death Notice
STROOP, Shirley W. age 76 of Kettering, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Village. Born in Gilmer County, Georgia, she is the daughter of David Whitaker & Maudie B. (Garland) Whitaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred P. in 2000, a son William, 2 brothers, Franklin and Roy Whitaker and a sister Maudine Baker. Shirley is survived by a son, David (and Ginger) Stroop of Dayton, a daughter Cheryl Stroop of Springfield, 3 granddaughters, Ella and Mira Stroop and Tasha Raye Simon , 1 brother, John Whitaker and 2 sisters, Addie Lee Kelly and Wanda Hargrove. Shirley was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and friend. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 1pm at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Av., Dayton, OH. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private interment will take place at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton. Memorial contributions may be made to the or The Hospice of Dayton.
