OCTOBER 13, 1934 – MAY 21, 2023
Shirley Ann Varnell, 88 of Decatur, passed away on May 21, 2023. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25 from 12-1 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, with Celebration of Life Service to follow at 1 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Smothers officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Mrs. Varnell is survived by her son Dennis Varnell, Step-daughter Sandra Smith grandchildren Jay, Michael, and Stephen, brothers Carl Kramer (Rosemary) of Florida, Arthur Kramer of Dayton Ohio, sisters Theresa Harris, of Dayton Ohio, Cathy Kramer of Dayton, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband I.S. Varnell, parents George Russell and Jeanette Kramer, Brother John Kramer, George (Bud) Kramer, Jerry Kramer, Charles (Chuck) Kramer.
Shirley got her degree in nursing and worked on the maternity floor at Decatur Morgan Hospital back in the 70's Then she went to work for GE for several years. She also, enjoyed teaching ceramics in her garage.
