Sherman Birdine Moses Jan. 27, 1916 -- Aug. 13, 2004 ------ Sherman Birdine Moses, 88, formerly of Fremont, died early Friday morning at Elmwood Nursing Home in Green Springs. He was born to the late Warren and Ella (Kofman) Moses in Imler, Pa., and married Anna Mae Schiets on Oct. 6, 1941 at St. Joseph Church in Fremont. He was a World War II Army veteran, maintenance supervisor for GW Sugar for 23 years and Basic Refractory, Old Fort, for 23 years. Sherman was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Fremont VFW. Surviving are son Jerry L Moses Sr of Fremont; daughters Marlene K (Don) Brown of Clyde, and Julie A (Richard) Loats of Carey, NC; son John R (Lisa) Moses of Fremont; grandchildren, Mel Goon, Jr, Ron Martin, Don Martin, Jr, Justin Moses, Joshua Moses, Jacob Moses and Jerry L Moses, Jr; great-grandchildren, Nathan Martin, Nichole Martin, Anne Marie Moses and Meghan Lynn Moses; sisters, Ethel Tate of Yagerstown, Pa., Mary Ake of Claysburg, Pa., Lilly Cathers of Osterburg, Pa., Betty Wynant of Queens, Pa.; and brother Warren (Jimmy) Moses, Jr of East Freedom, Pa. He is preceded by his parents and brothers Richard, David and Charles. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Herman-Kinn-Karlove tz Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Fremont. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery with military services by the Fremont American Legion/VFW.
