Shadrack Ford

Facts and Events
He served in the Civil War in Company C, 4th West Virginia Cavalry having enlisted on 26 Aug 1863 at the age of 33 years. He died on 30 Aug 1874 at Pruntytown, WV and is buried in the Ford Cemetery on George Ford's farm. He never married, lived with the James W. Burdett family at Pruntytown and followed the trade of a tanner, as did James W. Burdett. Guy Tetrick's papers state that, "He was highly esteemed by all who knew him, and is reverently spoken of by members of the Burdett family who regarded him as a second father."
