    [Note: The will abstracted above is a key piece of evidence in showing Seth's widow did not marry Henry Kingman, as Seth was clearly living when that marriage occurred. (It was a different Abigail Copeland and there is a detailed discussion on her page.) Note that Seth's mention of a daughter Rebecca Arnold is referring to a step-daughter. Seth Copeland of Braintree m. Rebecca Josselyn 1763, the widow of Abraham Josselyn, and the Rebecca Joslyne who married William Arnold was the daughter of Abraham and Rebecca.]

    Vol. 78, p. 131 16 Apr 1729: Seth Copeland Mary Copeland [later reference adds "his Wife"] and Hannah Holbrook of Braintree for divers good causes and Considerations quitclaim unto Thomas Holbrook all rights in housing and farm land and meadow of our Grandfather Thomas Holbrook late of Braintree deced. Acknowledged by Seth Copland 7 May 1750. Witness Ephraim Thayer made oath that he saw Mary Copeland sign deed.

    Vol. 124, folio 26 reverse 5 Mar 1734/35: Seth Copland of Braintree for £170 to Benjamin Thayer of Braintree Yeoman a tract of land about 1 acre in the middle Precinct of Braintree. Signed by Seth Copeland and Abigail Copeland. "Abigail Copeland the Wife of the abovesaid Seth Copeland in manifestation of her Concurrance of the abovesaid proceed hath hereunto set her hand & Seal." Acknowledged by Seth Copland 2 Jun 1773.

    Vol. 126, folio 194 25 Feb 1774: Seth Copeland of Braintree Yeoman for £46=13=4 to William Arnold of Braintree Mariner the West part of my mansion or dwelling house with a small peice of land adjoining. Acknowledged 7 Mar 1774.
