SACRED to the memory of Rev. Sereno T. Abbott [A.M.?] [presumably a degree?] Born in Andover, Mass. Aug. 17th 1805 Graduated at Amh[e?]rst 1833, At Andover Theol. Sem. 1836. Ordained Pastor of the Church at Seabrook, & Hampton Falls July 12, 1837. Died March 28, 1855, in the 50th year of his age. Christ is all my hope.

Abbott Place of Death: Hampton Falls Date of Death: March 10 1855 Age: 49 Sex: M; Color: W; Condition: M Occupation: Clergyman Clerk of: Hampton Falls [Note: application for disinterment in 1905 gives the date of death as 28 Mar 1855, which ended up on the gravestone and appears to be used by all other sources. Presumably this record was miscopied? In any event, the reason for the discrepancy is not known, but the newspaper notice cited below seems to provide a contemporary confirmation that the 28th is correct.]
