Saville Metcalf Jr Died May 19th 1834.

  3. Note: this death record cited above explicitly says Jr as opposed to the one on p. 4, that is 2 days earlier and doesn't include the Jr. Are they the same person? Are they two deaths: father and son? Who does the probate file in 1834 belong to?

On 31 Jan 1832, "Saville Metcalf of Millbury in the County of Worcester ... yeoman" quitclaimed to Chapin Holden his right to an undivided 1/5 part of 23 acres in Orange formerly belonging to Rhoda Metcalf (Franklin deed Vol. 78, p. 304). As the father typically labelled himself a gentleman in deeds, this appears to be the son, i.e., not of Orange. But no wife is named, he is not called Jr., and so it is ambiguous. No other record of him in Millbury has been located, nor any deed after this.

There is a "Saville Medcalf Jr." that m. Permele Mecham in Grafton in 1821, and sold land in Grafton (Worcester deed Vol. 253, p. 117) that they apparently inherited from Joseph Nichols. They are called of Burrillville, RI.
