Sarah's origins and maiden name are unknown. Only three sightings have been found of her to date, being the baptisms of three sons with her husband William Keyte at Chatham in Kent between 1796 and 1798. William a sergeant in the Royal Artillery and originally from Shipston on Stour in Worcestershire. It seems likely that the family returned there after William’s retirement from the army in 1809, as two of Sarah’s sons married in Worcestershire. It is not clear when Sarah died. William's pension records from the army show that he eventually ended up living at Epsom in Surrey, where he died in 1845.
