"Obituary. Died in Chickasaw County, Miss., July 29th, 1887, at the residence of James Goodwin, near New Hope church, Mrs. Sallie Farned, at the advanced age of 66 years and 4 months. The deceased was born in Franklin County, Ala., in the year 1824, and was married to Mr. Abner Farned, who died a few years ago, after which she was kindly cared for by her children. Mrs. F. made a profession of religion in early life and joined the Southern Methodist church, of which she was a consistent member at the time of her death. She was indeed a true mother, a loving aunt and a devoted christian, and although she suffered a great deal before the final hour arrived, she bore it all with fortitude and even cheerfulness, submitting without a murmur to the will of him who doeth all things well. She gave up all earthly cares, and, as the morning star fades away in the brightness of the morning sun, so calmly and peacefully she fell asleep in Jesus with full assurance of a resurrection from death and a blissful immortality beyond the grave. This good old mother leaves one son and four daughters and many friends to mourn her departure, and let us hope to profit by her pious example here on earth."
