Case 11926.
Vol. 105, p. 885 19 Apr 1861: Partition of real estate of Sarah Loud deceased late of Weymouth wife of Warren Loud: 1/50 shares to Clarissa Huntress wife of Martin C. Huntress, Jeremiah Bates, Lovell Bates, David Bates, and James Bates 2'd; 1/10 shares to Mary Stoddard wife of Ichabod Stoddard, Elizabeth Hobart wife of Charles Hobart, Harriet Gammon wife of Thomas Gammon and Silvanus Bates; 1/2 share to Elizabeth G Hardwick wife of Joseph Hardwick. [Note: 1/50 shares are children of James and Clarissa Bates. The father James Bates plus the recipients of the other 1/10 shares were children of Sylvanus Bates and Sarah's sister Elizabeth, and so split Elizabeth (Torrey) Bates' half share. Elizabeth G. (Plummer) Hardwick was the only heir of Sarah's sister Margaret (Torrey) (Plummer) Baxter and got the whole half share due her mother. This is mentioned because it appears to be attributed to Warren Loud's second wife by Chamberlain on p. 3:380 instead of Sarah to whom it belongs, and because it shows Sarah's daughter Sarah, mentioned in Sarah's mother will as shown above, had died, which is not mentioned by Chamberlain. Note: Warren Loud's second wife, Susan (Pratt), was married to Phillip Bates, another child of Sylvanus Bates and Elizabeth Torrey. It is not clear why his 3 sons are not mentioned among the heirs of Elizabeth (Torrey) Bates.]
