1735. Sep't 21st ... Samuel Stearns Jun'r owed ye Coven't ... Octob'r 26th ... Sarah, Dauter of Sam'll Stearns Jun'r [baptized]
↑ The coincidence of a baptism on 26 Oct 1735 followed by a birth 26 Oct 1736 naturally suggests the year given by one or the other was misrecorded. However, if one assumes Sarah wasn't baptized the day of her birth, and considers the spacing of sibling births, it seems reasonable that a child could be born earlier in 1735, and then died soon after baptism, to be followed by another birth a year later. That is the arrangement used by Source:Van Wagenen, Avis Stearns. Genealogy and Memoirs of Isaac Stearns and His Descendants, p. 62, and without evidence otherwise, it seems plausible, though the possibility of misrecording cannot be ruled out with the evidence available.
