Sarah Sharp was baptised on Christmas Day in 1844 at Caddington in Bedfordshire, daughter of a straw plaiter called Sarah Sharp, formerly Bunyan, and her husband Robert Sharp, an agricultural labourer. At the time of Sarah's baptism the family lived at The Green in the centre of Caddington. The 1851 census finds Sarah living with her parents and siblings in the part of Caddington parish which was then in Hertfordshire. She was already described as a straw plaiter, despite only being six years old.
By 1861, Sarah's mother had died. The census that year finds Sarah living with her father and siblings in the Bedfordshire part of Caddington. In 1871 she was living with her father and married sister and her family at Folly in the Bedfordshire part of Caddington.
In 1874 Sarah had a daughter called Ellen.
On 11th November 1876, aged 31, Sarah married Thomas King, an agricultural labourer. He was a widower, with two surviving children from his first marriage. After their marriage Sarah and Thomas went on to have another six children between 1877 and 1887.
The 1881 and 1891 censuses both find Sarah, Thomas and their children living at Aley Green in the Hertfordshire part of Caddington. Sarah worked as a bonnet sewer.
Sarah died in 1892, aged 47. Thomas survived her by eighteen years.
