Sarah Scriven was born on 28th December 1832 and baptised nearly two years later at Crewkerne in Somerset, daughter of Elizabeth Scriven, formerly Forsey, and her husband John Scriven, a labourer. The 1841 census finds Sarah staying with her aunt Sarah Hodges (her mother's sister) at Burton Pynsent near Curry Rivel, a few miles north of Crewkerne. She has yet to be researched after 1841.
