Obituary - After a short illness, resulting from a paralytic stroke, there died at her residence on Albert Street, one of the oldest residents of the town and locality, in the person of Mrs. Sarah Kyle Overend, relict of the late William Overend, at the age of 73 years. Born in Dublin, Ireland, Mrs. Overend was brought to this country at the age of two years by her parents, who settled in the Township of Medonte, and the deceased lady was a continuous resident of the locality for the remaining 71 years of her life. She married the late William Overend, and settled with him on a farm near Price's Corners, where her family of eight sons and two daughters were born. In 1877 they retired from farming and came to live in Orillia, where Mr. Overend died some six years later, in April, 1893. The family have scattered during the years, but all were home for the funeral except Charles, of Buffalo, who was detained by illness, and one daughter, Sister Columbo, of St. Joseph's Convent, London. Tho se present were William, Peterborough; Thomas, Beaverton; John, Severn Bridge; Harry, Toronto; George, Orillia; James, London; Joseph, Chicago and Miss Overend , Orillia. The sons acted as pallbearer s at the father's funeral, and on Wednesday morning six of them performed a like service at the mother's funeral. The service was held at the church of the Angel Guardian, whhere High Requiem Mass wa s celabrated by Rev. Father Moyna, and a short eulogistic address delivered by Rev. Father McGuire, of Hastings, Ontario. Deceased was highly respected, and the funeral was very largely attended.
