The last sad rites were performed over the body of the late Mrs. Sarah A. Pelan, when she was laid to rest in the Friendship cemetery near her home by those who had known her for many years. Mrs. Pelan in early life was wedded to Dr. Edward Atkinson, who preceded her many years ago to the great beyond.

Mrs. Pelan nee "Irby" came of an English people whos patriotism and worth was much appreciated. He great grand-father was a Colonel in the revolutionary war and her grandfather on father's side a Captain in the same. She herself was patriotic and loved to dwell upon past history which she was familiar with. owning one of the finest libraries to be found in any country home.

She leaves three sons to mourn he loss who are men of staunch worth and merit: W. S.., J. L. and Al Atkinson. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Graves and was attended by a large concourse of friends, who have admired her through the years.
