Samuel married Sarah, daughter of Nathaniel Hayward of Malden. She survived him and d. 14 Oct. 1717. [ Source:Historic homes and institutions and genealogical and personal memoirs of Worcester County, Massachusetts : with a history of Worcester Society of Antiquity, p. 193, also identifies her as daughter of Nathaniel, b. 1655. However, there don't appear to be any births recorded to a father named Nathaniel Hayward or Howard in either Malden or Woburn any where near the year 1655.]
