Town of Warwick, Franklin County, Massachusetts, Genealogical Records 1739-1900, Births, Marriages,, p. 133, says that it was Isaac Jr. who married Sarah Whipple who d. 17 Nov 1888, while Sarah (Goddard) Hastings, his father's wife, is said to have d. 15 May 1827. Isaac Jr. was said to have m. (2) Prudence Mallory.

The only death record found in readily available places is the 1827 [in Blake's History of Warwick (here)] one lending credence to Allred. But further investigation suggests otherwise The son Daniel, apparently the only child of Isaac Jr. and Sarah is born in 1807. His death record lists the birthplaces of his parents as Shrewsbury and Grafton, which agrees with Isaac Sr. and Sarah (Whipple) Hastings. So it does appear probable that the first wife d. 1804 and it was not the son who married Sarah Whipple. Isaac Jr. published his intentions to Prudence Mallory in 1826 before the death of Sally Hastings in 1827 further contradicting the scenario given by Allred.

The question that remains to be answered is whether the 1827 death of Sally Hastings is another individual, or if the Hastings Memorial has the wrong death date for Sarah (Whipple) Hastings, since the 1844 record has not been found.
