Sarah Dring was baptised on 4th February 1817 at Heckington in Lincolnshire, daughter of a labourer called Richard Dring and his wife Sarah. The family later moved a little way east from Heckington to the Sutterton Fen area, where they were living when Sarah's youngest brother was baptised in 1828, and where Sarah's parents were living in the 1841 census. By 1841 Sarah had left home and was working as a servant at an inn in the nearby town of Boston.
On 22nd November 1843, aged 26, Sarah married a farmer called John Turner, who was from Heckington. They married at the nearby village of South Kyme, where Sarah was living at the time, but returned to Heckington after their marriage.
Late in 1844, Sarah had a daughter, who would be named Sarah Allen Turner. Sadly, Sarah died at Heckington on 6th December 1844, just a few days after giving birth. She was 27 years old. Her daughter survived despite Sarah's death, and young Sarah appears in both the 1851 and 1861 censuses living with John, who outlived Sarah by over 32 years.
