    Obituary.

    Mrs. Sarah E. Baker.

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Baker, our precious Mother, died in the triumphs of a living faith at her home near Elwood, Texas, Feb. 20, 1894. She was born in Hempstead county, Ark, May 18, 1826. She was converted and joined the Methodist church at eleven years old.

Her father, Rev. John B. Denton moved to Texas in 1838, and settled in Red River county. There in 1840 she was married to Burnard Hill, who died 9 years after. They were blessed with 4 children, three of whom, went home e'er they had known sin. The surviving son, Judge W. F. Hill lives in Little Rock, Ark. Was married to our father, W. Baker Dec. 16 1849. The latter marriage was blessed with five daughters and four sons. Three of them were also taken in early infancy and childhood. Four grief stricken daughters and three sons, a devoted husband, twelve grand children, three brothers and many friends are left to mourn her loss. Praise God, "we mourn not with those who have no hope." She left such a sweet assurance that Jesus was with her even to the last.
