Gould Lauman of Denver, CO

My Dear Aunt,

I have not doubt that you will be somewhat surprised to get a letter from me, after so many long years. But I want you to know that I have not forgotten you. I have often thought of you and wondered if you was still living and if you are the only one of the old stock except Aunt Maria Uncle Charles widow. But she was not one of the first of the family, Uncle John Crabb and Aunt Sarah died a year ago not much diffence in their deaths. Harriett and Smith are the only ones of that family that are living. Harriett has been a widow for several years and lives in Seymour, IN. Smith lives in Louisville, KY. Uncle John left them quite a fortune. Uncle Edward Crabb children I believe are all living. Lydia Dobbins lives in Seymour and so does her brother Smith Crabb. I had a letter a short time ago from Uncle Billie Dobbs and he told me that you was living the last that they had heard from you. Now Aunt you must be quite old for I am an old woman. Soon to be 59 years old and I was only child when you went to Texas. But I remember it well the day that you started and we both have had much troubles and many losses. Since that time my first husband Norris Gould who died in '62 and left me with four children. I lived a widow 18 years and I raised my children and I now have been married to my present husband C. A. Lauman, soon to be 11 years. I have not any children since I married the last time. I suppose by this time you know who it is that is writing to you. Sallie Crabb, I was once now. Aunt I would be so glad to get a letter from you and from your childrn. I am away out here in CO and have been for almost four years. Cynthia my oldest dau lives right near me. She has four? children. My oldest boy Austin d at Indianapolis, IN and left a wife and two children 6 years ago. Billie Dobbs Gould my second boy lives at Salina, KS has a wife and one child. You know Billie and Cynthia Dobbs raised him after his father died. Sadie my youngest girl d here at Denver five years ago and left two little boys one of them died after she di and I have the other one. He is past six years old and goes to school. Now Please write me a long letter and tell me all about yourself and children an can you tell me if there are still any of the Brights or Dranes or any of the Crabbs from Ky or Tx. Yet hope that this will find you all well and doing well and that I will hear from you soon. No more time. From your affectionate niece.
