Benjamin Burt moved to Deerfield in 1701. It was here an expedition was sent from Montreal, Canada under De Rouville, arrived on 29 Feb 1703/04. Over 100 townspeople were taken prisoners and marched on foot to Montreal. Sarah was eight months pregnant at the time with her first child. They were made to march with torn clothing, bleeding feet, and starvation staring them in the face until they reached Montreal. Only for their youth and resourcefulness did they survive. Many of their kin, including mother and infant sister were slain before their eyes by the Indians. On 14 Apr 1704, Sarah gave birth to her first child whom she named Christopher. Another expedition was sent to bring back the prisoners and on 30 May 1706 they were redeemed and left Quebec by boat for Boston. On the return trip and while at sea she gave birth to her second child, called Seaborn on 4 July 1706. When they returned, they removed to Stamford, Connecticut, settling, in 1712, in the new town of Ridgefield, where they remained until their deaths.
