Joseph Fowler m. (1) Newbury Dec. 1707 Sarah Bartlett. Her death on 8 Jan 1721/22 is recorded as Elizabeth, as is Joseph's second wife Mary, obvious errors. The will of her father, John Bartlett, dated 11 Apr 1733, proved 7 Jun 1736 "mentions his daughter Sarah Fowler and leaves property to her representatives".
[Oddly, to go along with the mistaken death record, the first three children recorded at Ipswich have mother named Sarah, while the last three, from 1715-1719, all say Elizabeth! It would almost look like Joseph married a new wife after 1713, except there are a couple of deeds mentioned on p. 60 (22 Sep 1720, 14 Mar 1720[/21]) where he sells land with consent of wife Sarah. Therefore, we must conclude that the occasional use of Elizabeth arises as some sort of confusion with her husband's mother, Elizabeth (Herrick) Fowler?]
