"… his (Pabody Grinnell's) second wife Sarah Barnes, daughter of Daniel and Mary (Tappan) Barnes, … files), … Widow Sarah's nuncupative will was in Saybrook District 846 but not found in the films of Saybrook or Guilford probate books. Saybrook Probate District's being formed in that year from Guilford may have caused the confusion. Benjamin Jones Sr. and Jr. presented Sarah's dying wishes to the court on 1 March 1780: half her linen and wearing apparel to be for her daughter Sarah Redfield [wife of James Redfield] and the other half plus her bed and other household items, her cow and two heifers for her granddaughter Jemima Grinnell. The widow Sarah was probably living with her daughter Sarah in Westbrook, and the granddaughter Jemima probably with them."
