Smoke Ferree CD - November 2004

Samuel Trogdon, Jr. was born in 1789 on his father's farm near Franklinville, Randolph County, North Carolina to Samuel Trogdon, age 39, and Abigail Julian, age 39.

Samuel Trogdon, Jr., age 27, married Susan Ferree, age 22, on June 17, 1810. Susan Ferree was born April 25, 1788 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

They settled on a farm given to him by his father. The farm was located one mile west of Franklinville, in Randolph County, North Carolina. Samuel Trogdon, Jr. owned several Negroes and did considerable farming. To them were born 12 children, ten sons and two daughters. All of the children were born in Randolph County, North Carolina, near Franklinville.

Samuel Trogdon, Jr. died at his brother William's house in 1853. He was paralyzed by a stroke and died four days later on September 11, 1853 at the age of 64. His wife, Susan Ferree, had died ten years earlier on April 4, 1843 at the age of 54.
