    "42. Samuel Stickney, b. in Bradford, Aug. 24, 1701; m. April 22, 1729, Elizabeth, dau. of Jacob and Sarah (Clark) Hardy. She was b. March 11, 1707, and d. May 11, 1737. He m. 2d. Susanna Johnson, June 3, 1742, who d. July 28, 1776. Samuel Stickney was one of the company of eighty-seven men, raised by Capt. John Lovewell, and mustered at Dunstable, Jan. 29, 1725. Their destination was Pigwacket, now Fryeburg, Me. They came upon a trail of Indians, Feb. 20th, and discovered ten asleep, and killed them all. They returned to Dover, thence to Boston, with ten scalps on poles, and received at Boston a bounty of £100 for each, out of the public Treasury. [Mass. Archives.] … Samuel Stickney died in Bradford, Dec. 29, 1783, aged 82 [Gravestone], leaving a Will dated Aug. 21, 1783, which was never presented for probate."
