Deputy for Fairfield, May and Oct. 1774, Mar., Apr., May and July 1775, May 1776, May and Oct. 1777, Jan., Feb., May and Oct. 1778, Jan., May and Oct. 1779, Jan. and Apr. 1780. Commissary to supply army, Apr. 1775, and for several years thereafter. Justice, 1776-82. (In most of these records was called 'Captain.’) Born 18 Apr. 1715; d. at Fairfield, 27 May 1801 ae. 86 (g. s.); … Wheeler’s Journal (27 May 1801) refers to Capt. Samuel as seaman, merchant and magistrate. His title apparently was not military, and no appointment as Captain is found. Will of Samuel, in 79 yr., but not dated; wife; five sons, Samuel, John, David, George, William; two daus., Sarah now wife of Daniel Wilson, and Abigail widow of Isaac Jarvis; codicil added 1 July 1798 states that Daniel Wilson, an Exec'r, has died, and appoints Israel Bibbins in his place. Proved 1 June 1801."
