Records of Samuel Snodgrass
From Rockbridge County, Virginia Records:
- Thomas Burgess and Catherine Burgess his then wife sold to Robert Snodgrass a tract of 141 acres in Rockbridge, dated 6 May 1783, acknowledged in presence of Joseph Walker, Reuben McClenahan, and James Addair Junr., but not recorded.
- 4 Aug 1801, Thomas and Mary Burgess to secure lands to said Robert Snodgrass at that time deceased deeded the 141 acres to Samuel Moore and Samuel Snodgrass, executors of the last will and testament of said Robert Snodgrass dated 29 May 1795.
- (Metes & Bounds) notes that it is also recorded in the City of Richmond 11 Nov 1781.
- Robert Snodgrass, son of deceased, having arrived at the age of 21, therefore "I Samuel Snodgrass, one of the executors of said Robert Snodgrass, late of the County of Rockbridge, being now myself a resident in the County of Green in the state of Ohio do by these presents convey unto said Robert Snodgrass all right title and interest in and to the tract of land of one hundred and forty one acres in the County of Rockbridge."

- 5 Mar 1816 - 50 acres, Samuel Moore and Samuel Snodgrass, Executors of Robert Snodgrass late of Rockbridge, now deceased to Robert Snodgrass, son of said deceased. Executors secured grant of 50 acres in Rockbridge (metes and bounds) cor. Thos. Leeky and John Walker, Saml. Snodgrass, Elijah and Charles Walker.

Information on Samuel Snodgrass
About 1802/3, Samuel Snodgrass and his family went from Rockbridge Co. VA to Clark Co. Ohio, to relatives living East of Springfield and in the neighborhood of New Harmony.
In 1819 Samuel Snodgrass purchased a farm in Ross Twp. Green Co. Ohio from Andrew W. Davidson and his wife, one and a quarter miles from Jamestown, Ohio on Jamestown & Cedarville Rd.
The Greene County Robertson History says he went to Ross Twp in 1821.
The deed for the farm says Jan 6 1819.
In 1833 he sold this farm to his sons Joseph Snodgrass and John Snodgrass.
He died 1844 Ross Twp in Greene co. Ohio, buried in Sliver Creek Cemetery, Greene Co.
He was in several battles and was wounded, discharged in 1778.
About 8-10 years after the war he moved to Va. through the forks of the James River to Rockbridge Co. Va. where he lived for the next 15-18 years, moving to Ohio c.1810/11.
He lived in Springfield, Clark Co Ohio, then Champaign Co. Ohio for about 2 years, last moving to Ross Twp. Greene Co. Ohio.

SNODGRASS, Samuel born Lancaster PA died Greene Co. OH. Served Pennsylvania Line, S 6136, applied (for pension) 20 Sep 1832 Greene Co., OH. Soldier born about 4 miles from Chambersburg PA, at enlistment was born in Lancaster Co. PA--lived in PA 8 to 10 years after the Revolutionary War, then moved to Rockbridge Co. VA for 16-18 years. In 1810-1811 moved to near Springfield, OH in Champaign Co. OH (now Clark County) and was in Green County about 1820/30.
