    Samuel was married to Ketturah Sutton, they married October 21, 1784 in Baltimore Maryland. They lived in Maryland, Tennesseee,North Carolina, and Kentucky. Samuel served in the Revolutionary War. He applied for a pension at the age of 80 in Monroe County Kentucky. He served under a Captain Miles. He was dismissed from service on March7, 1779 in New Jersey. He paid taxes on 700 acres of land in 1787 in North Carolina. He and Ketturah had 13 children. Samuel, a widow by 1820 is living in Barren County(now Monroe) Kentucky with 3 of his daughters, Dorcus, Prudence, and Keturah, and son Asa. Living next door is daughter Ruth Shipley Biggers. Another son, Joseph is appointed as Samuel's attorney to recover estate money owed to his deceased wife. Keturah Sutton Shipley, the daughter of Joseph Sutton and Ruth Adams Sutton of Maryland. Their children are;
