Samuel Seagraves was born, possibly to William, Sr. & Sarah Segraves probably in Isle of Wight County, Virginia or in Northampton County, North Carolina. With no other information to base it on his birth year has been placed at at 1743, one year older than his possible brother, Jacob. Sharon Tabor of Allen County, Kentucky has researched Samuel as part of her ancestry and was of the opinion that Samuel may have come out of the Seagraves clan in New Jersey. Indeed, there was a Samuel Seagrave, born about 1740 in New Jersey to a William, Jr. According to "The History of Gloucester, Salem and Cumberland Counties, New Jersey", this Samuel was a Justice in Salem County in 1806, was a Constable on the Civil List of Mannington, Salem County in 1828-29 and was on a list of voters in Pilesgrove, Salem County in November 1846. I do not believe that the New Jersey Samuel was in Botetourt County, Virginia from 1783 to 1804, then in Warren County, Kentucky in 1805 and 1810. Another possible source for Samuel was the William who apparently married an Ann Sincoe in Middlesex County Virginia in 1715.
