↑ Several sources, such as Source:Weis, Frederick Lewis. John Prescott of Lancaster, Massachusetts, 1643-1681, p. 31, attribute Samuel Prescott to Jonathan Prescott's first wife Dorothy. According to Source:Nourse, Henry Stedman. Birth, Marriage, and Death Register, Church Records and Epitaphs of Lancaster, Massachusetts, 1643-1850, she married Jonathan in Aug. 1670, had a child that d. May 1671, a son named Jonathan b. Apr 1672 and d. May of that same year, and she d. 1674. The, according to Source:Concord, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. Births, Marriages, and Deaths, 1635-1850, Jonathan m. Dec 1675, had a son Jonathan Apr 1677. Given that Samuel married in 1698, and must have been born by 1677 to be of legal age, we must conclude that Jonathan's first wife died giving birth to Samuel, i.e., he was born in 1674.
