Bio: Was a dealer in spirits and real estate. Best remembered for having erected a number of noted buildings including Pike's Opera House (at a cost of one million dollars), later renamed the Grand Opera House, a theater in New York City at the corner of 8th Avenue and 23rd Street. He died at the age of 50 of apoplexy (stroke) at his real estate office at 22 Bridge Street in Manhattan.
