Will Transcript

Samuel Peters of the County of Rockbridge and State of Virginia, being infirm of body, but of full presence of mind, make this my last will and testament revoking all other wills and testaments heretofore made by me.
I give and bequeath to my wife and my daughter Jane all my goods & chattels & debts & dues and all my property of every description to be equally divided between them (after the payment of my just debts) the reason of my giving to my daughter Jane in preference to my other children is on account of her dependent situation, and I hereby appoint Joseph Steele executor of this my last will and testament.
Witness my hand and seal this ninth day of August one thousand eight hundred and forty two.

We Alexander McCorkle the husband of Sarah McCorkle, James Little the husband of Mary Little, & William Runnels the husband of Elizabeth Runnels the said Sarah, Mary and Elizabeth being children & heirs of Samuel Peters deceased, do hereby consent & authorise the county court of Rockbridge to establish & admit to record the above writing, witnessed by Samuel F Chandler purporting to be the last will & testament of Samuel Peters deceased, & we do hereby renounce and relinquish in favour of Hannah Peters the widow & Jane Peters the daughter of Samuel ceceased any benefit or interest that might have accrued to us or either of us. We do this in order that the said will may be established according to law. Witness our hands & seals this 21st day of May 1843.
