There seemed to be something haywire with Samuel's marital history before we found his marriage in Tveta to the right person.

As it seemed before: While the 1788-90 , 1791-96, and 1797-1806 household examinations all show him marrying Margretta Jönsdotter in 1782, there is not record of such a marriage in Virserum. Instead Virserum has Samuel Magnusson and Pigan Catharina Comuns??dotter marrying 20 October 1782. Not clear if this is a different Samuel, an earlier wife, or a clerical error.

Turns out that it's a different Samuel (November 2004 research); they married in her apparent home town of Tveta.

Identity is established by his birth in the same Bå-------- neighborhood of Virserum as is indicated in later household examinations. Also he is identified as Samuel Magnusson at early childrens' births.

  10. Household exam of 1806-1810, page 75, AI:4B, gives most specific date, 18 Sep 1758, which is within a year as it turns out. The mysterious birth location is apparently a neighborhood of Virserum.

Location given in household exams does start with B and was thought perhaps be Bäckebo, which is not too far SW of Virserum, but I'm not sure that is the word. It's clearly B followed by an a with umlaut or circle, followed by a c or an s, followed by a riser, etc. On the other hand, it must surely be in Kalmar or they'd make more of a fuss, and Bäckebo is closer match than anything else I see in Genline or FHL.

NOT FOUND in birth records of Bäckebo on Genline (Nov 2004).
