  6. The birth record lists the parents as Samuel and Lucy, and the birth is just months before Lucy (Wheeler) Merriam dies, and two years after the previous child. So by all appearances, Samuel Milo appears to belong to this family. Except...
    1) There already is a son named Samuel (age 19).
    2) Samuel Milo is not named as by the judge in the distribution of the father's estate.
    Number 2 is virtually irrefutable. The most likely explanation is that Samuel Milo is an illegitimate child of one of the daughters. (The son Samuel has no known marriage until several years later.) The only daughter of an age possible to be the mother is Lucy who married 1822 to Curtis Lawrence. The birth record referenced by the New Hampshire index does not appear to be online, as the exact wording may possibly give further clues.
