"20. Samuel (Kellogg),3 son of Martin2 (7), b. prob. in Braintree, England, after 1630; m. (1) 24 Nov., 1664, Mrs. Sarah (Day) Gunn, dau. of Robert Day and Editha Stebbins, of Hartford, and widow of Nathaniel Gunn, of Hartford. She was slain by the Indians, 19 Sept., 1677; he m. (2) 22 Mar., 1679, Sarah Root, b. 1660, dau. of Thomas Root, of Westfield. He d. 17 Jan., 1711; she d. 15 Jan., 1718-19. It is not known when he came to New England, nor whether he came with his brothers, Joseph and Daniel. The first record found of him in New England is that of his first marriage. He was a farmer; res. in Hadley, where he became the owner of a four-acre home lot in 1664. … the present town of Hatfield was established (taken off from Hadley) in 1670."

"Samuel (Kellogg), Hatfield, perhaps br. of first Joseph, m. 24 Nov. 1664, Sarah, wid. of Nathaniel Gunn, d. of Robert Day, had Samuel, b. 1669; Nathaniel, 1671; Ebenezer, 1674; and Joseph, 1676, wh. was k. with his mo. 19 Sept. 1677 by the Ind. wh. carr. young Samuel off to Canada, whence he came back. He m. 1679, Sarah Root of Westfield, had John, b. 1680; and Thomas, 1681; wh. both d. at H. unm. over 70 yrs. of age; and Sarah, 1684. The elder s. Nathaniel, and Ebenezer sett. at Colchester, and perhaps, Samuel too."

"… Samuel Kellogg … was taken prisoner before his marriage, and was carried off by the Indians to Canada."
It was the son Samuel who was carried off to Canada in 1677, not the father.
