"Hall, Samuel, s. of Francis. Served as soldier under Capt. Seeley, King Philip's War, and in the Narragansett Fort Fight, Dec. 1675, fell with two bullets in each thigh, but crawled away, cutlass in hand, and after great suffering from exposure and loss of clothing, survived to receive 50 shillings in compensation from a grateful General Assembly in 1678. Called son of Francis, … Inv. 8 Nov. 1694; Widow Susannah to administer with Lt. James Bennett and Mr. Nathaniel Sherman. Names of children: Samuel, David. On 18 Sept. 1699, Ens. Isaac Wheeler was appointed to care for the estate, and to have the improvement of it until the children reach 14 yrs. The two surviving sons were mentioned in the will of their step-father. The son Samuel sold land 22 Feb. 1715/6, his mother Susannah Wheeler consenting."
