Forward, Samuel (acc. to Hist. Sketches of Cong'l Ch. of Belchertown, Mass.), came from Devonshire, Eng., abt. 1666; trad, says be was from Wales and sett, in Danbury, Conn., and his two sons at Granby, Conn.; another trad, says he emigr. first to W. Indies, where he owned a whole island, but left it through apprehension of war and came to W.; he was "of Simsbury " on W. Rec, but Hannah Forward Clark- says that it was his gd. son (her gd. father) Abel. b. 1711. who first came from W. to Sims., abt 1728; m. Anne, of W., 1670. when he bought "the Indian's Place " (Thos. Hopewell's); had no other land rec. in 1st Bk. W. Ld. Rec.; adm. to W. Ch. in full commun. 8 Oct., 1671 (O.V.R.); d. 16 Sept., 1684; wid. d. 23 June, 1685.— W. and Col. Rec.
