"He appears in the west precinct of Dunstable as early as 1739, and was on the first board of selectmen after the organization of the West Dunstable precinct in 1742. He was the first justice of the peace, when the precinct was made the town of Hollis, N.H., in 1746. He was moderator of the town-meeting in 1746 and several times after, and town clerk twenty-two different years between 1746 and 1770. He represented the town in various matters pertaining to its general interests. He was sergeant in Capt. Powers' company in the war of 1755... He was very prominent in all matters concerning the town and church."
