Samuel Buckingham's will was dated 6 October 1692 and proved 9 April 1700 in Milford. It it, he named his 'true and loving wife Sarah;'son-in-law Barnabas Baldwin that married daughter Sarah; grandchild of Thomas Baldwin, the son of daughter Sarah; grandson Barnabas Baldwin, the youngest son of daughter Sarah deceased; daughter Ann Buckingham; daughter Ruth Buckingham; daughter Esther Buckingham [interlined in record book]; son Samuel Buckingham; residual lands to sons Samuel and Thomas Buckingham (if either son dies, the residual to go to the other son, or to their children lawfully begotten, then to the daughters of their children); appoints wife sarah and sons Samuel and Thomas as executors; it was witnessed by Daniel Buckingham and Jonah Clark. The inventory of his estate was taken on 2 April 1700 by Lt. Josiah Platt and Ens. Joseph Treate and submitted on 9 April 1700; it came to £700:03:0[worn] [the last digit should be 4 if one adds the items in the inventory.]. Sarah declined to be an executor, 'not knowing if she could be at court' on 10 April 1700.
