    9 March 1769

    Samuel BOWMAN applied for 50 acres “joining to Martin Lawber and the Heirs of George Whitman in Cocolico Township, Lancaster County.” (Source: Pennsylvania Land Warrants and Applications, 1733-1952 on Ancestry.com; Warrant#__, Book (1769), p.144-145)

    Samuel BAUMANN (b. c1710 Kraichgau region, Germany – d. before 5 September 1782 Lancaster PA).

    Samuel BAUMANN reportedly emigrated to Philadelphia, PA around 1717 and eventually settled along Conestoga Creek in Farmersville, Lancaster Co., PA. He obtained a land patent on 17 September 1759 in Farmersville from a warrant taken out by his father, Jacob, on 28 November 1735. Samuel signed a will on 20 April 1776, which was probated on 5 September 1782.

    His wife, Fronica (Veronica) Martin, apparently preceded him in death. She was born before 1715 in Germany or Switzerland and emigrated in 1732 from Rotterdam, South Holland, arriving in Philadelphia on 21 September 1732. Her parents may have been Christian & Elizabeth (Ellis) Martin.

    They had five children:

    Henry BOWMAN.
    John BOWMAN (b. c1731 Lancaster PA – d. 12 Nov 1816). Married to Elizabeth ______.
    Martin BOWMAN (b. c1731 Lancaster PA – d. 1816 Hardy VA/WV). Married Elizabeth _______. During the Revolution, he was captain of the 3rd Company, 10th Lancaster Co., PA Battalion from 1777-1780 and captain of the 6th Company, 5th Lancaster Co., PA Battalion from 1780-1783.
    Elizabeth BOWMAN (b. 13 March 1736 Lancaster PA – d. between 11 Jan-5 Mar 1784 Lancaster PA). Christened on 12 April 1754 in Cocalico Reformed Church. Married Johann Balthasar “Baltzer” Laver on 13 March 1754 at Muddy Creek Lutheran & Reformed Church, East Cocalico Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. They were Mennonites and lived in Donegal Twp., Lancaster Co., PA in 1784 when she died. They had nine children: Christina, Catherine, Michael, Jacob, John, John Adam, John Frederick, John Henry and Elizabeth.
    Samuel BOWMAN (b. c1743 Conewago, Lancaster PA – d. 1807 Cumberland PA). Married Catherine Landes (b. c1747 Lancaster PA) and had at least two children: John Landis (1768) and Susanna (1772).
